One of the best ways to learn is to share and help others learn. This is only of the tenets of teaching, but once we become teachers, we kind of forget about sharing and teaching our peers. You may feel like you have nothing to add to the conversation, but that’s wrong. Everyone has something to add, they may have a unique perspective that no one has thought of before. Don’t sell yourself short!

To get started, got to an Edcamp and put yourself on the board. It may be a subject you are an expert in, or it may be a subject that you want to learn more. Either way, you become the facilitator of the lesson and can drive the discussion to a (hopefully) mutual conclusion with the participants. Try it out, and once you get a taste for it, you may submit proposals to various conferences that are close to you¹.

¹ I have a policy of not submitting proposals to conferences that don’t provide free registrations for presenters. The presenters are one of the main reasons people attend, the least the conference could do is to provide those presenters with free registrations.
