Search your local library for books while browsing Amazon and other sites with this browser extension

As you browse books and e-books, the Library Extension can check your library’s online catalog and display the availability of that item on the same page.

This is, without a doubt, one of the coolest extensions I’ve covered. After installing the extension, you select your local library. This can also include ebooks and audio books, if they are offered by your library. Now, when you browser websites such as Amazon and Goodreads, an additional box will pop up on the page showing the availability of the current book and in what formats.

Looks like I’ll have to reserve this one.

Clicking on the View buttons takes you to the library’s website where you can reserve, borrow, or put a hold on the book, depending on the format and availability.

If your library isn’t listed, you can submit your local library to them and they will add it. My local library wasn’t available, so I contacted them, and it was added in a day.
