NEOTech 24 – Teach Like a Hacker
I’m so glad to have had the opportunity to attend and present at NEOTech 2024!
Teach Like a Hacker
My presentation at NEOTech 2024 was titled Teacher Like a Hacker, a collection of tips and tricks on using the computer and the Google products. I made the mistake of adding too much to my presentation, which made me rush through it. One of these days I’ll learn how to properly pace my presentations!
The sessions I attended were really good
and now I have major FOMO on what the sessions that I didn’t attend were like!
- Develop Creators, Not Consumers in 2024 was all about how to get students creating. Presentation is available Develop Creators, Not Consumers in 2024 along with their website that has links to all kinds of activities: Tiger One.
- Level Up Learning – Gamifying Your Classroom with Al and Google Looker Studio – This session was worth it for the insight into Google Looker Studio with Jen Hollinger, but then you add how Jeremy Brueck has added gamification to his classes and the session hits a whole nother level!
- Today’s Special Classroom Guest: Mr. A.I. Chatterbot – Eric Curts shared sites and services to allow you to add AI to your classroom safely. This session was especially helpful for ideas on using AI with students in the <13 age group. Resources include PD Presentation – AI Special Classroom Guest and PD Agenda – AI Special Classroom Guest.
- Making AI Dance: Prompt Engineering for Education – Elizabeth Davis & Jeff Marini took us on a journey on creating prompts for AI with an emphasis on education.
- Organize Your Digital Life – Kristie Hughes had all sorts of great tips to help you get the most out of Google for Education. She also shared ohiolearningcommunity.org, a source of free PD & CEUs that is available. Classes can also be completed for grad credit at a cost.
It was a very fun and good conference, hats off to Dan Niessen and the NEOTech crew for putting it on and bringing in some great resources!
