Screencasting with Loom – Forever free for teachers and students!

As of March 12, 2020, Loom Pro is free to all verified teachers and students at K-12 schools, universities or educational institutions who are using Loom for classroom work.

Unlike the other changes to plans and pricing in response to COVID-19, this is a permanent change; moving forward we will continue to provide Loom Pro to verified teachers and students for free.

Everyone is racing to offer their services for free, but the kicker with Loom is that the screencasting app will always be free for teachers and students.

It appears I’ve never shared this tool before! Loom is a screencasting tool in the same vein as Screencastify and Screencast-o-matic. Each one offers their own features, but generally, they work the same. When you start to record, you select what you want to record (the desktop, a browser tab, or the webcam) and then hit record. If you are recording the desktop or a tab, you have the option of including your webcam in the recording.
