Want to start blogging? Why not try Tumblr?
Getting started with blogging can be an intimating process. WordPress is the big dog when it comes to blogging, but setting it up for the first time is not as user friendly as I would like. You could try bloggin at Twitter or on Facebook, but that locks your content into their systems and limits your reach. As I started looking at different options, I revisited Tumblr.
A brief history
Tumblr has been around for awhile, and as a company, it has been purchased and transferred between a couple of different companies. For several years, content that is not appropriate for schools had found a home on Tumblr, but, after Tumblr was purchased by Verizon, that content was removed. This is the reason that I can now recommend trying out Tumblr.
Automattic, the company behind WordPress, bought Tumblr in 2019.
Why blog?
There are many reasons to blog. I blog to share information and content that I created or find. Blogging also gives me a record or journal of my internet travels, and allows me to store that information and refer to it later. Never has the ability to publish to a world wide audience been easier.
