The Five Hour Rule

Several successful people, such as Oprah Winfrey, William Buffet, and Bill Gates, follow the five hour rule. The five hour rule is setting aside an hour every work day for deliberate learning.
How the five hours are spent is usually divided up into three areas: reading, reflecting, and experimenting.
Read: Bill Gates reads 50 books a year. Warren Buffet goes a little extreme in reading 5-6 hours a day through newspapers and business reports. I spend most of my time in my RSS reader.
Reflect: Creating for social media or writing on a blog are great ways to reflect on what you’ve learned, along with sharing for others. No one is an island, we’re all building on the shoulders of genius. My little website is as much for me as you, I find myself coming back to it time and time again when I’m trying to solve a current problem that I’ve covered in the past.
Experiment: Over the last 8 months my biggest experiment has been my YouTube channel for Eduk8.me. It has been an eye opening experience. Although I’ve come a long way, I still have a long way to go. Every week I try something new when recording or editing. I’m so much faster now than I was at the start.
What are you going to read? How are you going to reflect? What experiments are you doing? Let me know, I’d love to hear about them!
