The strict father model of morality

There’s this whole culture called the strict father model of morality. In a nutshell, proving to others how much discipline you have is what they feel the whole point of life should be. Discipline is a tool to get to the end, not the reason. Putting in long hours to show how important you are is not good. In fact, there are usually two reasons why someone works long hours. They are inefficient at their job or its an administration failure at allocating resources.
Being disciplined isn’t a bad thing, but it’s only a tool.
